Getting In Touch
Reaching out for help can be a daunting task, especially when you are considering asking for help from a relative stranger. A website is a poor substitute for a personal interaction when you are trying to judge whether someone is trustworthy and skillful enough to help. I wish I could offer guarantees and assurances in the face of the kind of uncertainty you may be experiencing. I do believe, however, that the goodness inherent in the therapeutic relationship has the potential to radically transform both the client and the therapist in the process.
If after looking through the content on the site you would like to meet, I’ve tried to offer a few possibilities for making first contact with the hope that one of them will feel accessible. If privacy is of utmost concern please read my privacy policy first. Below is a summary of the options that are available:
Secure email: benadamscounseling@protonmail.com
Secure and anonymous email: bacmail@protonmail.com (this page is not indexed by search engines)
Leaving a voicemail: 1-206-552-0562

The Initial Consultation
My hours are not all within ‘normal business hours’ as my physical location is in southeastern Africa. As a result, I offer sessions at various times throughout the week. Please request a consultation to view my current availability.
The initial consultation is free should you choose to seek out help elsewhere. If, however, you decide to schedule regular meetings, then the initial consultation is $70.00 and will be added to the rate of your first normal session.
All sessions are remote via video conference or telephone. After requesting a consultation you will be given instructions on how to connect for our first meeting together.
What to Expect
The consultation is a chance for us to meet and make an assessment of each other. My hope is that you will be provided the opportunity to express your therapeutic goals, ask me any questions you may have about me and how I practice, and even have a felt sense for what our work will be together.
I may also have some biographical questions to explore with you in order to help ascertain how equipped I may be to help you with your therapeutic goals. If I have any concerns about my capability to help you meet your goals, then we will have a conversation about these concerns and the possibility of helping you find a therapist that can be of better assistance. Alternatively, If I feel that I can be of help, then I will let you know of my willingness to commit to regular sessions before we end.
After the initial consultation, if you would like to continue meeting we can set up another appointment to begin regular sessions. During the first regular session I will review with you my privacy practices, my disclosure statement and my consent to treatment forms. This part of the first regular session can be expedited by coming having first read these forms and policies here.
